Well it’s been about six months since I put my crazy plan into action. I did it. I really did it.
I started an apiary.
In the beginning I had a lot of doubts, wondering if I could possibly keep these beautiful bees alive with no prior hands on experience, and nothing but my innate wild streak and determination to learn.
I am thrilled to report all three hives are alive and thriving. And I am humble enough to admit they did all of the heavy lifting. Bees will be bees, after all.
As the nectar flow winds down, I am hopeful the hives will continue to grow and survive the winter. At the rate they have been going, I may even get a little honey from them before the summer ends.
There is much work left to do. I know I have a long way to go and SO much to learn before the next “bee season” begins. But I remain hopeful and encouraged.
